About
The gap between the seed catalog and the recipe.
A seed catalog stops at "days to maturity." A recipe blog starts at the grocery store. The eight months in between — the part where you have to decide, in February, exactly what to sow so that in September you have eleven pounds of the right chile — is the part nobody publishes. That gap is the whole site.
How to use it
Backwards. Start at the jar you want, not at the seed rack. Pick asauce, run it through the Plan Builder, and it works out the cultivar, the sowing date for your zone, the number of plants the recipe's actual weights require, the potting mix in bags, the jars you'll fill, and everything you need to buy — grouped by the phase you'll need it in rather than dumped in one list.
Who writes it
Everything here is published by the SeedsToSauce Test Kitchen — one house standard, one review process, one byline. We do not invent named authors or borrow credentials we don't have. Where a claim needs an authority behind it, we cite an actual authority: the National Center for Home Food Preservation, the USDA Complete Guide to Home Canning, or a land-grant university extension service.
Where our numbers come from
- Days to maturity, spacing, soil temperature — cultivar-typical values from seed-supplier and extension data, stated as ranges where they genuinely vary.
- Frost dates — zone-level averages. We say on every page that uses them that a hardiness zone is a minimum-temperature map, not a frost-date map, and the builder lets you override with your own date.
- Per-plant yields — healthy-plant averages. A bad July cuts them. We say so.
- Target pH and process times — from tested processes, cited on the page. Where a recipe is not a tested process, the page says that in a red box rather than in a footnote.
- Product prices and ratings — captured from the live Amazon listing on the review date printed on each page. Not a live feed.
What we refuse to do
No display ads. No pop-ups. No newsletter. No sponsored posts — no brand has paid for placement here and none can. And no wellness pseudoscience: this site does not traffic in "toxins," detoxes, "chemical-free" framing, or anti-science content of any kind. Organic and regenerative practice gets covered as agronomy with real tradeoffs, not as an identity.
We are an Amazon affiliate, not a store. Amazon is the seller on every product we link. Full disclosure.
Current scope
8 sauces, 13 grow files, 7 reference guides, and 67 verified products across the eight phases of the pipeline. It grows.

If a number here is wrong, we want to know, and the fix goes on the page rather than into a quiet edit. contact@seedstosauce.com.
